Science Fair

The Academy Science Fair will take place this Thursday, February 24^th. The students should bring their projects in to school on Thursday morning for the judging that will take place in the afternoon.

Students should report back to school by 6:45 p.m. and be in complete uniform. At 7:00 p.m. the projects will be on public display in Bishop Mendez Hall, and students should remain by their projects to explain them to visitors. The awards ceremony will begin around 7:30 p.m.

We are also pleased to announce that the Academy’s Spring Play will be an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth. More information will be forthcoming soon!

The Academy is on “B” Schedule Tuesday, February 1st

The Academy will be on “B” Schedule tomorrow, and students should report to school at 9:50 a.m. Students will not attend Mass but will immediately commence with classes. At noon, the students will have the opportunity to receive Holy Communion, and then have lunch. We will have all regular classes throughout the day tomorrow.

Events

We hope that you are having a blessed and happy Christmas season. We thank you for your support of the Academy Christmas concert and plays. The students worked very hard preparing for these events, and they did a fantastic job!

PARENT-TEACHER MEETING

This Thursday, January 27^th, we will hold our Parent-Teacher meeting, which will begin promptly at 7:00 P.M. in Bishop Mendez Hall. Report cards will be available at the meeting.

SPELLING BEE

Moreover, you are cordially invited to attend the Academy’s 1-8^th Grade spelling bee, to be held in Bishop Mendez Hall on Friday, January 28^th, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. The top three spellers from each class will compete to see who will win and challenge our first semester spelling bee champion, Jimmy Birch. We hope to see you there!

FUTURE CITY COMPETITION

Congratulations to the Academy seventh and eighth grade classes, who placed third in the State of Ohio in the Future City Competition! The students also won a prize for the “Best Moving Part”. Many thanks to the team’s engineer-mentor, Mr. Michelangelo Pedicini, who worked so hard getting the students prepared.

The Academy will be open tomorrow, Thursday, January 20th. The students will not attend Mass, but instead will have classes until the early dismissal at 11:45 a.m.
